Non-Licensed Asbestos Work (NNLW)

• Notify HSE online before starting any notifiable non-licensed asbestos work.
• Ensure all workers hold current asbestos awareness and task-specific training.
• Prepare a written plan of work detailing controls and disposal arrangements.
• Wet asbestos materials thoroughly before and during removal to suppress fibres.
• Wear RPE and disposable coveralls for all asbestos removal tasks.
• Remove asbestos cement sheets whole; do not break, cut, or drill them.
• Double-bag all asbestos waste in labelled bags and seal securely.
• Dispose of asbestos waste only at a licensed waste facility with documentation.
• Decontaminate tools and equipment after use with damp wiping methods.
• Keep non-essential personnel clear of the work area during removal.

• DON'T use power tools to cut, drill, or break asbestos-containing materials.
• DON'T remove asbestos without the required notification to HSE in place.
• DON'T allow untrained workers to handle or disturb asbestos materials.
• DON'T dry sweep or use compressed air near asbestos removal areas.
• DON'T mix asbestos waste with general construction waste for disposal.
• DON'T remove RPE or coveralls until you have decontaminated properly.
• DON'T leave removed asbestos materials unsecured or in open skips.
• DON'T assume asbestos cement is safe because it looks intact and solid.
• DON'T eat, drink, or smoke in areas where asbestos work is taking place.
• DON'T dispose of asbestos waste without a consignment note and licensed carrier.
