Control Measures
Select the quietest piling method suitable for the ground conditions and design requirements.
Install vibration monitors on the nearest sensitive structures before piling begins.
Set vibration trigger levels based on the structural assessment and stop work if limits are reached.
Provide hearing protection rated for the specific noise output of the piling method used.
Monitor worker noise exposure using personal dosimeters and limit daily exposure times.
Schedule piling during the hours permitted by the Section 61 consent or planning conditions.
Notify neighbours in advance of the piling programme and provide a complaints contact number.
Use acoustic enclosures or screens around the piling rig where practicable.
Record all vibration readings, noise levels, and complaints in the environmental monitoring log.
