- Hold a valid CPCS or NPORS mini excavator card before operating on site.
- Wear the seat belt at all times during operation — overturns happen without warning.
- Complete the daily pre-use check on tracks, hydraulics, controls, and safety systems.
- Maintain pedestrian exclusion zones around the mini excavator during operation.
- Assess slope and ground conditions before operating on gradients or soft surfaces.
- Ensure the machine has ROPS/FOPS cab protection before operating.
- Adjust operating technique when using breakers, augers, or other attachments.
- Use proper loading ramps and a banksman when loading onto trailers.
- Keep the boom low and tracks aligned uphill when travelling on sloping ground.
- Shut down the engine and remove the key before leaving the operator's seat.
