Temporary Works Register Management
The temporary works register is the central record of every item of temporary works on a construction project. It tracks the design, checking, approval, installation, inspection, and removal of each item. Without a properly maintained register, temporary works can be forgotten, left in place too long, removed prematurely, or never properly checked. This talk explains why the register matters and everyone's role in keeping it accurate.
- Enter every item of temporary works on the register before installation begins on site.
- Record the design reference, checker details, approval date, and installation date for each item.
- Assign a unique reference number to each temporary works item for tracking throughout its life.
- Update the register when temporary works are inspected, modified, or subject to a permit to load.
- Do not remove any temporary works until the register confirms a formal permit to dismantle is issued.
- Review the register at temporary works coordination meetings held at agreed intervals.
- Ensure the register is accessible to the temporary works coordinator, site manager, and supervisors.
- Close out each register entry when the temporary works item is safely removed and the area is clear.
- Every item of temporary works must be entered on the register before installation starts
- Do not remove any temporary works until a formal permit to dismantle has been issued
- Update the register for every inspection, modification, and permit to load event
- Review the register at regular temporary works coordination meetings on the project
- Close out each entry only when the item is safely removed and the area is confirmed clear
