What?

  • Distribution boards divide the incoming electrical supply into individual circuits protected by circuit breakers or fuses.
  • Incorrect installation of distribution boards causes electrical fires, shock hazards, and nuisance tripping affecting building services.
  • Installation must comply with BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and be carried out by qualified, competent electricians.
  • Circuit identification and labelling must be accurate — mislabelled circuits prevent correct isolation during maintenance and emergencies.

  • DON'T install distribution boards without BS 7671 compliance and qualified electricians.
  • DON'T open or work inside a live distribution board without confirmed isolation.
  • DON'T leave any cable termination loose — tighten and verify every connection.
  • DON'T mislabel circuits — incorrect identification causes dangerous isolation errors.
