The Temporary Works Coordinator is a key role on any construction project that involves temporary structures such as formwork, propping, shoring, or falsework. They ensure that all temporary works are properly designed, checked, installed, monitored, and removed in a controlled manner. This talk explains the Coordinator's responsibilities and why every operative must understand their role in the temporary works process.

Control Measures
- Appoint a named Temporary Works Coordinator for every project involving temporary works.
- Ensure all temporary works are entered on the temporary works register before installation begins.
- Obtain design approval and an independent design check before any temporary works are erected.
- Inspect temporary works at the intervals specified in the design and record findings on the register.
- Issue a formal permit to load before any permanent works loads are applied to temporary structures.
- Never modify, alter, or remove temporary works without the Coordinator's written approval.
- Ensure the Coordinator briefs the installation team on the design requirements and sequence.
- Issue a formal permit to dismantle before any temporary works are struck or removed from site.
- Review the temporary works register at progress meetings to confirm all items are current.
