The Manual Handling Risk Score Calculator is an Excel-based assessment tool that combines the HSE MAC (Manual Handling Assessment Charts) and RAPP (Risk Assessment of Pushing and Pulling) scoring methodologies into a single workbook. It covers all four operation types β lifting, carrying, team handling and push/pull β with automated risk banding that categorises each assessment as Low, Medium or High risk based on the scored factors.
The template includes a pre-built library of over 120 civil engineering tasks commonly encountered on construction sites, each with a suggested handling type and control measure notes. This gives assessors a strong starting point and reduces the time spent writing assessments from scratch. Scoring settings are fully editable so the tool can be calibrated to your organisation's risk appetite or specific project requirements.
A built-in assessment register captures every completed assessment with date, assessor, task, score, risk band and action status, providing an auditable record for CDM compliance files and health and safety inspections.
