Description
The Meter Readings Log is an Excel-based utility consumption tracker for construction sites with up to 12 electricity and water meters. Each reading is recorded with date, meter reference and reading value, and the system automatically calculates usage delta (units consumed since last reading), cost at the configured unit rate, and standing charge β giving you a running total of consumption and spend for every meter on site.
Individual meter dashboards present monthly usage tables and charts showing consumption patterns over time, making it easy to spot anomalies, seasonal trends or unexpected spikes. The portfolio dashboard summarises all meters in a single view with headline KPIs for total consumption, total cost and average unit rates, formatted for QS cost reports and stakeholder presentations.
A pivot summary sheet cross-tabulates monthly totals across all meters for budget tracking and period-end reporting. VAT rates, unit rates and standing charges are all configurable per meter, so the workbook handles mixed tariffs and different supply contracts. The template is designed for site managers, commercial teams and facility managers tracking temporary site supplies.
