Description

The Pipe Laying Productivity Log is an Excel-based tracker for recording and analysing pipe installation productivity on civil engineering projects. Each entry captures gang reference, shift date, number of pipes installed, metres laid, pipe type, diameter band, ground conditions encountered, trench depth, trench support method used and delay hours β€” providing a detailed picture of what was achieved and what factors affected output.

Configurable target rates are set per pipe type, diameter band and pipe length combination, and the system measures actual output against these targets to calculate percentage achieved for each shift and cumulatively. This makes it easy to identify where gangs are underperforming and whether the cause is ground conditions, delays or other factors.

The filterable dashboard presents actual vs target metres, percentage achieved, rework counts and delay hour totals with visual charts. A formula-driven pivot summary cross-tabulates total metres laid by diameter band and pipe length, giving project teams a clear summary for programme reporting and earned value calculations.
