Plant Pre-Use Check Sheets

The Plant Pre-Use Check Sheets template is an Excel workbook providing printable weekly inspection forms for 28 types of construction plant and equipment. Each sheet is pre-populated with 15 to 25 type-specific daily check items drawn from a built-in question bank on the Data sheet, covering the checks an operator must complete before starting work each day — from fluid levels and tyre condition to safety devices, braking systems and attachment security.

Equipment types covered include crawler and wheeled 360 excavators, mini excavators, tracked and wheeled dozers, forward tipping and rear tipping dumpers, tracked dumpers, articulated dump trucks, wheeled loading shovels, backhoe loaders, skid steer loaders, telescopic handlers, MEWPs, ride-on rollers, compactors, graders, road planers, piling rigs, mobile cranes, concrete pumps, vacuum excavators, site vehicles, tower lights, mobile scaffold towers, harnesses and sweepers.

Each check sheet has a 7-day Monday-to-Sunday grid for recording ✓ (pass), ✗ (fail) or N/A against each item, a defect details section for recording any issues identified, and an operator declaration with name, signature and date fields. The sheets are formatted for A4 portrait printing and designed to be issued weekly to operators as part of the site plant management system. Check items are editable on the Data sheet so new equipment types or site-specific checks can be added.
